About Catfishii

Why we exist

If you understand the modern verb “to catfish”, you are probably familiar with the documentary called Catfish, which later turned into an MTV series, Catfish the TV Show. The shows, created by Nev Shulman, seek to help individuals that have been involved in long-term online relationships, to finally meet that person IRL (In Real Life).

Catfishing has become so common these days that stories about catfish dating pop up in the news and come up as common references on TV shows and in movies. Remember the Notre Dame football player, Monte Tao? That famous catfish dating story made so many more people hyper-aware of the dangers of falling for an internet love.

However, as the creators of Catfishii, we know that there are SO many people out there in fishy online relationships. There are many people who don’t make it on the TV show or may not even want to go on the show. Some want to share their story and some want anonymous advice. Those people deserve a safe place to share!

How to use the site

Whether you are telling a story about a past experience, a catfish yourself or you think you are being catfished by someone else, feel free to share your situation. All you have to do is create an account and post a story. You can choose to add images to support your story, or just describe the situation. You can choose to reveal your identity, or keep it a secret. Hey, if you really want, you can catfish the world by creating a false identity on this site, which seems a bit counter-productive, but it’s up to you!

Your post will be added to our public forum, visible to any user. Others can vote on your story, depending on what quesiton you are asking. Will he/she still like me after reveal my true identity? Should I come clean? Am I being Catfished? They can also see a more detailed view of your post, where they can comment and give you advice.

You, yourself, can track those changes in the “My Stories” section. See what people are saying and how they are voting.

Best of luck! Please contact us if you have further questions.
